Melanie Williams was given the job to reconfigure a house in Kenilworth originally conceived around an immaculate 1940’s staircase. I was asked to design a double height lighting installation for the hallway with the wildflower chandelier as a starting point. Larger shades were prototyped and brought to site and then a full size cardboard model was fished over the the side of the bannister to fine tune the whole arrangement. Cabinet maker Ben Casson engineered the one metre diameter ceiling rose from premium Medite which was duly secured to new noggins above. Once the lighting cord was unwrapped and dropped down all the pendant shades could be clipped on to complete the installation and a good eye was then needed for the final polishing.
