Peacock Gate, Monkton House, Sussex, 1991.

This set of gates was commissioned for the main entance of Monkton House. The house has a history of commissioning interesting works of art by its previous owner the poet Henry James and this tradition has been continued by the present owner. Within the grounds of the house is a large collection of wild fowl and this was the inspiration for the gate.

The gate is made from forged steel, rivited, screwed and fire welded together in a traditional fashion. Details have been added with copper and brass which weather and change colour beautifully
